Corbin

Our new grandson is so stinking awesome!!!!!! I take him from Micah every chance I get, even though this evening, I did let Alicia hold him for a while. Being a papaw is not what I expected. I don't feel old... Its just like having your own kid except when he fills his britches, you can pass him back to his mom :)
Yep, I feel pretty darned proud to have that boy around. I'm gonna hate it when they have to leave on the 1st to go back to Maryland...

another first

This morning was another first for me. I went for a bike ride, that is bicycle not motorcycle. Alicia was going for her run so I went for a bike ride with her. I can't run anymore but the dr said I could bike, walk or play golf and everyone knows the speed at which I walk so that wouldn't get me anywhere in a hurry. On the bike ride which was the first time in like 38 years, I didn't get my heart rate up to do anything but me legs sure feel like tree trunks..... Planning on keeping this up when Alicia runs so that is going to have to be my exercise....

better and better

As the title says, my post knee surgery is getting better and better. It felt so good, I went on my first motorcycle ride in quite a while yesterday. I kept it short though. And kept it short again today :)
Might start taking a little longer ride as the healing continues.

The Good Juice

Surgery went amazingly well yesterday. When the guy came in to start the "happy medicine", I told Alicia she'd better kiss me then before I forgot what all was going on. And true enough, that is about all I remember. I do remember being wheeled back and scooting over to the O.R. table. I remember just a small bit of waking up in recovery and hearing a couple nurses gossiping about a co-worker. Alicia said I was too funny cause as I was waking up, I would ask her the same series of questions several times :) As Alicia said in her post last night, I'm still pain free PTL!!!
I had a couple darvocet on my nightstand during the night just in case but didn't need them at all. I'll just keep praying for a total healing and we won't have to use the word "replacement" anymore.

country

Living out here in the sticks as we do, I get the occasional chance to climb on the tractor and mow for a couple days... Now anyone that has ever been on a tractor for an extended period of time will tell you, there is not much else to do except think. Alicia will tell you about my thinking on a tractor ;) Anyway, I was out there this evening just mowing away and pondering life and got to thinking about Pastor's message yesterday. He talked about the things we go through in life and not knowing why but then later on saying awwwwwwwwwww. I got to thinking about where I am now and where I might have been if certain things had not worked the way they did. I'm darn glad God knows what he is doing with my life because there have been a kajillion times when I would be like "What am I doing with my life" but have lately learned to just let God have control.

Revoke my man card

Last night, I actually sat down with my baby doll and watched "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" I know I know, I can't believe it either. The sad part is, it was pretty good. I'd been giving our son crap for watching it but it did turn out to be better than I thought it would.
I'll be back to blogging more manly stuff tomorrow ;)

aimless thoughts

Nothing exciting today except for some great news...... Alicia will not be going on her 6 week business trip after all. I was excited about her going but not looking forward to the separation anxiety. Question for the day and feel free to answer:
What happened to work ethics in our country??

Bailing Wire

Here is one of the kajillion uses of bailing wire.... True story, my son had cut off his exhaust pipe last year to make it sound "better". Well this year, he had to have it back on to get his car inspected. I tried to weld it last night but the rods I had kept burning a hole in the pipe but did get it tacked. He commences to go to the parts store, gets some JB Weld type stuff and finishes patching it. He then grabs an everyready strand of bailing wire and puts on the finishing touch to keep his muffler on. He passed the inspection with flying colors..........
Many more uses of bailing wire to come :)

First one

Here you will get to read the wandering thoughts of a real country boy. Enjoy :)
